Vegetation Resources Inventory (VRI)

DFS is the provincial leader in the establishment of high quality, comprehensive timber emphasis VRI samples. Our crew leaders are Simon Walter and Wayne Murdock who are both certified by the B.C. Resource Inventory Branch to conduct timber emphasis VRI sampling. Between them Simon and Wayne have established 497 samples to the end of the 2000 field season. Strict independent quality assurance has been completed on all of their work with no reported concerns.

Simon has also conducted Quality Assurance checks on other VRI projects.

DFS has provided total project management services for the VRI project on the Lillooet TSA. We provided package preparation and sample selection for the Merritt TSA inventory.

Timber Cruising

DFS is staffed with proficient timber cruisers with considerable experience both in the interior and on the coast. Our cruisers are all accredited timber cruisers and evaluators. We understand the importance of accurate typing and correct pathological indicator calls as they relate to volume and appraisal calculations and subsequent stumpage costs. Quality grading, net factoring and call grading services are also provided upon request.
